PowerStream head office to be recognized as LEED® gold facility
Local utility's headquarters is first York Region 'office building' to achieve standard
WHAT: Local electric utility PowerStream, as well as several individuals key to the construction of its new head office facility, will be presented with LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) gold certificates from the Canada Green Building Council.
The building achieved the LEED gold standard by having numerous conservation and sustainability features incorporated into its design and subsequent construction that now help to reduce the facility's impact on the environment while providing significant energy savings.
WHO: Peter Meffe, Chair of PowerStream's Board of Directors, Brian Bentz, President & CEO of PowerStream, and Andrew Bowerbank, Executive Director of the World Green Building Council will be speaking at the event.
Mr. Bowerbank, on behalf of the Canada Green Building Council, will be presenting LEED certificates to several individuals including Mayor Linda Jackson of the City of Vaughan and Mayor Frank Scarpitti of the Town of Markham. The mayors will be representing PowerStream's two municipal shareholders.
